Experienced chefs providing authentic, locally-sourced farm dinner events.
We are Mirasol and Nicole. Though we are technically business partners, we are truly like sisters. Our shared love for curating events focused on food from local, Western Slope farms lead us to create Forage Sisters. We are inspired by our backgrounds of Italian and Argentinian earthen and simplistic styles of food, the spirit of Colorado, our love for sustainable living, and above all, our love for people, community and gathering.
Mirasol Gomez
With an Argentinian father who loves to cook Asados - cooking over an open flame - Mirasol has always been excited by the art of preparing and presenting food. This brought her, at age 18, to her first food-related job at a women-owned catering company in Santa Cruz where she developed her excellent service, aesthetics, and event planning skills. After moving to Boulder, Colorado, and graduating from Bauman College Natural Chef program in 2015, she became their kitchen manager. This lead to a four year period working for GB Culinary - a celebrated Colorado farm-to-table experience in Boulder - as owner Grant Buchanan’s right-hand chef and back of house event manager. Mirasol has a special eye and attention for detail, beauty and loves curating unique experiences.
Mirasol resides on the Western Slope.
Nicole Carrillo
From a young age Nicole was taught to have passion for food by the best cooks - her grandmothers. She studied the PBS masters - Julia Child, Martin Yan, Marcella Hazan - and gained courage to chop, saute, braise and bake. At age 12 she started cooking for her mother, father and sister, and hasn’t stopped. Throughout college she cooked for large groups of friends and the residents of the hospice home where she was a manager (using their garden). After college Nicole moved to New York City where she inherited and successfully operated a high-end event chef business. After moving back to Colorado and meeting her husband, Nicole started a culinary garden business, and continued cultivating her gift for feeding large groups of people delicious, nourishing cuisine. Since 2013 she has been creating farm dinners with the abundance of food from the farm where her husband worked full time. She has a passion for the seed-to-plant-to-table aspect of menu planning and cooking.
She and her husband, AJ, own Deertree Farm and Agroforest in Hotchkiss.
